Canadian dollar saps as markets laud Fed outlook



The Canadian dollar softened on Thursday as traders embraced the Federal Reserve's relatively optimistic outlook for the American economy and sturdy GDP data. Based on official figures, US growth increased to a 2.3% annual rate in the second quarter, bolstering the US dollar. The loonie finished at 76.86 US cents from Wednesday's 77.26 US cents. Data increase the likelihood of a September rate hike.
