    meta tags are found in the html of our website or blog's script and they are used for indexing among the search engines..in other words search engines capture/catch our site's link if the meta-tags are there..so they are necessary for putting our sites onto various search engines..

    when you see in the html of your site in its header you can see in it the description of your site..e.g. <meta name="description" content="Free Web tutorials on HTML, CSS, XML, and XHTML" />
