One of my relatives had passed the exam at odesk and is already working on some job offer there he told me that you have to devote your time there coz you are not allowed to do other jobs while you are working with them since your you will be monitored by them.

It seems absurd as how do they detect that we are doing other jobs or not! We certainly devote our time to complete the offer and if we couldn't do this, we would not get other offers in future. But if we do other jobs along with the ODESK, they are not permitted us to stop this work as these are totally freelance.

My relative and some of my friends who worked at odesk told me that there is a certain software that they will let you download in which they can monitor all your works. Some of the work are payed hourly and for them to know that you are doing all this they need that software to be installed on your pc.

Ya you have to download odesk monitor software where they will monitor the hour of working for the bids you applied for because you have mentioned the hourly price, but for fixed job no need to fully give time .

i read the details some rules are confusing but what i get to know they can keep track of this from their software ,it can show how much time you were not doing anything.

Well if you are serious about odesk then you will have to give up other sites that you work in too. But I think it would be worth it if you land on a great job.

from the various posts it is then clear that if we bid for job which has to pay us on hourly basis, then that s/w will keep track. So it is not safe to bid for that job in an initial stage. Yes, Satyam, keep patience, you will win a job there.

i wonder how they calculate our hourly payment basis, as we are just bidding jobs and getting payment from finishing the work task. How to get the hourly payment in this case? Is it even we didn't do a jobs also will getting payment from the hourly salary?

well there two types of system one is hourly where odesk guarentees payment and another is fixed where a budget is fixed where odesk can't guarantee you payment an their software is so robust they can track which job your doing.

Well I asked my relatives about this and he said that theres an off button on that software. But you can never do the same things at the same time when you are working at odesk. You can do that other jobs or sites you have when you are not working with them and just turn off that button.and regarding how to submit your job I have no clue yet.
