I want to know totally how many types of web hosting are there in the world? I know one - shared web hosting.

Shared Hosting
This is definitely one of the cheapest from of web hosting. It is run in a certain way that makes sit possible for different clients to share the same server, hence the name, Shared Hosting.

Dedicated Web Hosting
Compared to shared hosting, dedicated web hosting is more sophisticated, unlike the situation in shared hosting where different people share the same server. In dedicated hosting you are allowed to rent an entire server and use it all by yourself. You are also given access to all the resources, giving you the ability to host more than one website

But I know usually web hosting companies don't mention what type of hosting they provide i.e. shared or dedicated, or etc. For example, I don't know what type of hosting geocities.com or awardspace.com provides.

Then, how can we identify that?

Dear lemon, I know only free hosting, as geocities-provied by yahoo, blogger- provied by google, bravehost etc, and paid hosting as ipowerweb, bluehost and hostgator. As my opnion if you want to make real money online than you need paid hosting from any good company.
