why do we get 404 errors?even when all the scripts and pages on our website are kept accessible by public..then why do we get 404 errors quite often?

doesnt this error get displayed when the page can not be displayed...usually its only a temporary problem

The 404 or Not Found error message is an HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server but either the server could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and not reveal the reason why. 404 errors should not be confused with "server not found" or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server cannot be made at all.

Great therealdeal and vimstar..thanks,I have checked parkansky.com and your explanation vimstar..got it how it happens..so,its not always error from our side..and it can be due to server unavailability too..!!

in some cases if u use the refresh button this problem can avoided...however this is not possible everytime...my experience

I think that happens because the page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. So this occurs.
