How do game sites make money?

@vimstar2 : yes i think by coding the game ourselves we can save lots of money that we can spend on the domain + hosting. I guess you can learn PHP/MySql to make a browser-based games and also graphic software like photoshop to make the graphic you will use on the game.

But guys, you don't see the picture : games are very hard to make. PHP games take months, maybe even years with teams of people making them to make. You can't make a spectacular game on your own in a month...

@thedefier : of course it is hard to make PHP games. If you want to make a spectacular game within a month you must buy comercial script and then modify or just install it. I think if you already have a solid foundation for game-making - even if that takes months or years to master - you will be in great benefit since you can always make a game and sell it.
