How do I prevent spam on my blog?

Aside from using Simple Spam Blocker and the famous Akismet, how do I prevent it from my blog? I fear it will lower my blog's rating if it comes in bunches. How about you webmasters? How have you handled blog spam?

I am using spam blocker from softinform on my website and wordpress blog.Its working alright for me.You can try that too as it is not very expensive.

yah google is my bible. I refer that for everything. Just make searches with differnet key words you will get your results.
I have never been spammed on my blogs. So exactly dont know how it happens and what should i do then
