Why some topics are locked?

I am able to see in this forum that some of topics are locked before we can reply to it...
for eg. Do you know where to download text to speech converter
Why is this topic locked....

may be thats locked coz its been answered "fully" or some other reason like its not related to the discussions going on here.. :!: and one reason for general locking of "similar topics" is to prevent spam..imagine if someone replies their with "Oh thanks for the link" or "thank you very much for that converter"..so thats why it was locked most probably..after all this forum is not for chatting on "general" topics but on those related to "making money online" boy

Great explanation byyp.

I think it helps free up the forums and clean up any unnecessary "clutter". It makes the board neater and look more professional which will help to gather newer members. I think it's right to lock some threads up which seem more like spam than useful posts

yah i really appreciate the moderators on this site...
Can we have a system to report the admin or moderators when we see someone violating the rules. We could ease the work of moderators to some extent.
