domain name means the name of your "place" on internet through which people will be finding you..blogger.com is also a domain which provides free hosting service..if you want to get your own domain name you will be needing to upload your content to some hosting company..
they are different. your blog is only under the domain of one company like blogger and etc. but domain is your own website. it is better to have a domain for better traffic.
A domain is your own personal website. Its all yours just yours. It has no ties with anything elese.Unlike blogs which do have ties.Like you blog will be something@blog.com,but your domain would be something.com.Domain names can give you more traffic like some else said in here. But,blogs are good to if you are going for that. Its your choice though.
does having your own domain will mean you are hosting it your website. well i really don't understand the hosting though i know what is domain. cause i have heard some company will offer hosting services besides the domain service.Quote:

some companies are providing the domain names for free.so are they joking or do they really provide a domain name for free?
Dear archy, Domain name is Your personal site address, and URL is like www.xyz.com. Blogger is google's free service for blogs, and your link is like www.xyz.blogspot.com. If its not clear, post here again.
I would say both (yourname.blogspot.com and yourname.com) are domains. But the first one is subdomain which you can get freely from internet and the second one is top level domain (TLD) which you must buy from domain registrar.
When you create a blog from blogspot.com or wordpress.com, you will be given freely subdomain like yourname.blogspot.com OR yourname.wordpress.com.
domains are your own property ,whereas blogs under blogger.com will be google's property
Domain name is basically your site's name and for free blogs, your domain name is free because it has an extension like .blogspot.com. But you can also buy domain names and that appears as yourdomainname.com as an example.
Well a domain can also have a blog. Like youname.com may also have a blog. There is no point of differentiation between the two as both are different absolutely.
Friend You have a wrong concept on Domain.A domain may be personal or it may be ties with other but the domain name is a "Name" In which one can able to access somebody's site/website by typing it on the browser address bar above you have written "something@blog.com" this is not a domain at all the address is a mail Id not a domain or sub domain a domain should be like this-www.yoursitename.com or http://yoursitename.com or https://yoursitename.com and a sub domain should be like this-----www.site.yoursitename.com but not "something@blog.com" A sub domain never called a sub domain if you will use "@" symbol rather it will call a mail id.Quote:

domain is the gateway or channel and blog where you can place your specifications.
A domain and a blog are totally different. What you see on blogger.com is a domain and facility they provide to write blogs makes you the blogger.
domain is a specialised thing ,it is a name given to anything ,it may eb blog site or any content site so it is not blog.
I domain name indicated the path of any website and even blog site wil have a domain and it indicated the path of the siteQuote:

But for personal and non-profit site, it's okay to use blog address such blogger and wordpress.
using own domain help us with seo things
Yes, actually both are same, blog address and our own domain address just different on the sublevel and toplevel domain name. We couldn't do much SEO things on blog address as this will only helping the toplevel domain either blogger or wordpress to get more traffics but not for our own blogs. The best way still go for our own domain to promote it through SEO.Quote:
