i think that some of the amount of the taxes collected from the public is used in the advancement of the country and other goes in the pocket of the leaders

Dear mustang, the government spend the collected money from Taxes on development of country. In India many people are not pay the income tax to the government. I think US is the country where people pay lowest percentage on their income as tax, but not sure.

The tax is used for several things.
Developement of the infrastructure of the country, such as Public Hospitals, Police, Army, Navy, Air Force, to build roads and railways and to maintain everything in proper working order.
