Can we send a free sms?

I come across some ads saying that we can send free sms to any mobile from any corner of the world. How far this is true and if its true plz let me know the site name so that we can make use of it. :)

Yes, The news is true. I can also send many sms to my friends. and its very easy also. I thnk u know - gmail, yahoo, rediff mail also.
Then u just creat a rediff mail Id ( its free).. then u download the Rediff Bol Messenger. Then log in the rediff mail Id and password. After download the Rediff Bol - u can contact with ur friends by chat or send their sms in their mobile no. just add their mobile no . in the list.

or u can download yahoo messanger also . here also u can do the same thing, means chat and send sms. These r totaly free.

i don't know why every time a site offers that service stop working after a short while...
but i remember that i use to use a programme that you can attach to yahoo gadget and send sms for free daily (5 pay day) and it was working just fine but they say that they have some problems and they will back again...
i will check the site again and see if they still working if they are i ill post the link for you..

but for this we may need internet and PC/
any idea if we can do that using our mobile without paying any moneu for free?
