I agree with your point nick.... That social bookmarking websites are the best methods to increase backlinks to a blog...

Yups they are and even directories and search engine too.

Back linking is also considered good by various search engine like google and yahoo and many more, as it provides easier tracking of your sites..but, too much back links should always be avoided as it can be considered spamming search engines and is not considered search engine friendly. You can have upto 20 back links safely.. :)

since we are newbies as a webmaster we can share our experiences of traffic in this topic,i also have a new site and there is no traffic to my site.
but i dislike back links.for it is no good to me.

what are those social bookmarking that you are referring to. i am just new to back links. cause i have tried it just this week. but i have not done any socail bookmarks yet.
