do i have to buy a domain for a forum?

free domain won't be as good as those paid ones and sure you need to buy domain for your forum.
as far as i know . domain is some words or digits just like here we called it"webmaster-money.org" so no need to add script to domain but you need to add for your site. site is not only a domain.

It is up to your own choices, you can either use a free domain + hosting for your forum, or you prefer a total dedicated hosting and good domain name for your future forum. There are many sites provides free forum scripts, the most important things is your hosting site must support the scripts, if not your forum couldn't works at all.

Well it is upto u buy paid domain and hosting or Free one but u are testing how it will then Free hosting and domain will be good option but if u are going to open professional site and want to earn some money u need to buy paid hosting and domain.

Hi you should not go for free domain for this business because free domain is just depending on other site ,you take one paid domain like .com,.org,.info ,you can book a new domain from name chip ,or go daddy etc.

I think that you should not go for free domain. I have seen many members saying " it is free domin and so the admin is not having money to pay for domain even". Thus it may create bad impression . So for business purpose, you should always go for paid domain only.
For forum, there are free scripts easily available and being used by some forum owners quite satisfactorily.

yes, you should have a domain name.. you can get a free one or purchase a domain.
then you have to get a script for your forum and install it.

a free domain is offered by many sites so you can do a search and you will find many sites giving free domains,, it will have no sections, you will be the one who build sections in the site.

U will find lot's of free domain site in Google just search it and recently i have seen Co.cc domain is getting famous.

yes. it's good for newbies to use a free domain and hosting at the beginning to practice and then try the paid ones later. maybe i'll try to use some free domain and hosting later.

i dont think so free forum does not mean less security ,they are just giving some opportunity to try their platform but they must have all facility security proof in their system otherwise who would buy from them.

and it can be protected.
but if you think about something good, then you must purchase domain and hosting.
